Poem: Photo After Finals

Might as well keep this ball rolling...
Picture
sugar-soaked in Snapchat sepia
our expressions embellished like squashed licorice
a sticky tattoo on tattered sleeves
an exhibition of adolescence

smiles that should split our faces sore
                      bearing chattered gnashers
                                                gnawed from student anxieties
                                                                     stained from library coffee and
                                                                                                    polished by budget toothpaste

our salted skin doused in vodka
and coke – making the memory sweeter
with bar-time brothers
oblivious to the incoming traffic

I remember hearing the Wednesday swansong
“Don’t look back in anger”
I rarely do

This is a photo that is just insanely great. I mean, just think about all of the things that you have been able to do after this. I am not a fan of taking photos, but I love this. There is nothing that can encapsulate my feelings more than this. I hope that we can all get pass this, there are lots of things that we can still improve upon, but this is already great and I love it so much.
