A wee bit about me

So, all about Al...

Right ho - let's begin. I have had a love-hate relationship with words and writing since I was a small one.

Up to the age of 11, I had an insatiable love for fun poetry. I thought McGough was the patron saint, Rosen was king of all things wordy and the poem 'Chocolate Cake' was the holy grail.

Then came my teenage years. Music took my world by the scruff of the neck and I then saw The Libertines and The Strokes as saviours. Who needed the joy of stanzas when you had killer riffs and drugged up shouting down a microphone?

I genuinely believed this throughout my time at university and music college too. But then I discovered lyrics and how they can actually make a song...well...awesome. After trying to be in a shouty guitar band, I thought I should go back to my childhood wonders and bathe in the world of poetry. And I haven't looked back since.

I am a poet who thoroughly believes that above all things, poetry should be addictive. Like a great song has a banging chorus, a great thriller has an unforeseeable twist or a novel has a legendary plot - a poem should be something you back to. Again and again. Because you love reading it.

This site will include all my poems that I deem fit to be published here as well as the occasional blog, be it on writing, my past or if it's that exciting - my present.

Whether you stumbled across this space accidentally or not. I hope that the poems that I write and share with you make you want to come back for more. If my poetry is your Mermaid, I'd be doing backflips over the moon. Literally.

Have a butchers around and see what you find. If you fancy getting in touch, want a general chin-wag or just fancy slagging off bad poetry (possibly mine) then drop me a note  at wordsbadlywoven@hotmail.com. If you really want to know me and understand how I have become the whack-job I am, then give me a follow on Twitter or Instagram.
